Frank Onyeka reveals Nigeria stars that can win 2023 AFCON

Brentford midfielder, Frank Onyeka has revealed the Nigeria stars that can steer the country to 2023 Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) title in Cote d’Ivoire.
Onyeka believes the likes of Osimhen, Boniface, and Awoniyi that are in top form in Europe would be instrumental to Super Eagles success at the AFCON.
The holding midfielder stated, some ex Internationals have contributed immensely to the growth of the Nigeria national team and the present crop of players have to do more.
“You’ve obviously got Osimhen, Boniface, Awoniyi and they are all doing well in Europe. So we’ve got a good team and we can go and win,” Onyeka told LiveScore.
“We have plenty of past players who have done well for Nigeria but now
for us as players, we need to focus on ourselves and as a team to do what we need to do to make our nation proud.”
Onyeka admitted there’s pressure on Nigeria to deliver the AFCON trophy due to the expectations of the fans which he describes as a motivation for the team to perform well.
“We do have pressure because Nigeria is massive, we have a population of about 200 million.
“So every game, every tournament, they always expect us to win. There’s
always pressure on us.
“But it’s good because you can see the country, they all watch football and they want us to do it.
“So that’s a good thing for us and motivation to do our best.”
The three-times AFCON champions are drawn in group A of the continental showpiece against Equatorial Guinea, Guinea Bissau and host nation, Ivory Coast.
The 2024 AFCON will kickoff on January 13 and end on February 11.
