Gusau pledges continued support for Supersand Eagles, Beach Soccer development

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, has reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to the sustained growth of beach soccer in Nigeria, pledging full support for the upcoming 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super Finals and the ongoing revival of the national team, the Supersand Eagles.

Gusau gave the assurance when he received the Nigeria Beach Soccer League management team, led by National Coordinator Mahmud Hadejia, at the NFF Secretariat in Abuja. The visit came ahead of the NBSL Super Finals, scheduled to take place from November 6 to 9, 2025, at Jabi Lake Park, Abuja.

Commending the NBSL for its consistency and professionalism over the past five years, Gusau said the league’s stability has provided a solid foundation for the national team’s return to international competition.

“The key thing is for us to give all the support needed and ensure that we are there for the Super Finals,” Gusau said.

“We also call on all well-meaning Nigerians, especially football lovers and corporate Nigeria, to support the NBSL Finals. Beach soccer is an exciting game, and we want to see Nigeria back among the best in Africa and the world.”

The NFF President recalled the nation’s past successes in beach soccer and expressed optimism that with proper support, the Supersand Eagles can regain their place on the global stage.

“We thank God that the beach soccer national team is back on the continent, but it was not easy,” he said.

“We have been away for some years, and we must commend the efforts of the players and officials who came close to qualifying for last year’s Beach Soccer AFCON.”

Gusau reiterated the NFF’s determination to restore Nigeria’s beach soccer legacy through strategic investment, corporate partnerships, and consistent grassroots engagement.

This year’s NBSL Super Finals, relocated to Abuja’s Jabi Lake Park Sand Arena, will feature the country’s top beach soccer clubs battling for the national title. The event will also include a charity and cancer awareness match, featuring celebrities, former footballers, entertainers, and beach soccer legends.
