“He will go away” – Veteran agent hints at Victor Osimhen’s Napoli exit next summer

By Wale Mustapha

Football agent, Dario Canovi has disclosed that Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen is just a matter weeks before he will leave Serie A champions, Napoli for a big money movement in the next summer.

The Super Eagles’ forward extended his contract with the Partenopei until 2026 last Sunday ending the speculation of his intending move away from Naples in January.

However, Canovi who is experienced in such dealings said the renewal was to fix a price tag on Osimhen who is the reigning African Footballer of the Year.

The top class football businessman also gave reasons for Napoli’s miserable run in the new season which may not help them to defend the title they won last season after over three decades.

“Napoli have been in difficulty since the start of the championship. In my opinion the departure of (Luciano) Spalletti and (Cristiano) Giuntoli caused what is happening,” Canovi told media.

“Osimhen is a renewal that simply serves to increase the price. In my opinion he will go away in June.”

Top Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal have been linked with the 24-year-old.
