Henry Onyekuru Reveals the Secrets Behind His Peak Performance at Anderlecht

Brussels, Belgium – Super Eagles and RSC Anderlecht striker Henry Onyekuru, instrumental in his club’s recent triumph in the Belgian Super Cup with a 1-0 victory over KV Oostende, has shed light on the rigorous training regimen that keeps him at the pinnacle of his game. Onyekuru, who recently joined the Belgian champions on loan from Everton, highlighted the importance of his daily training routine in maintaining his fitness and preventing injuries.

In an interview with RSC Anderlecht TV, the Nigerian winger emphasized the pivotal role of his strength recovery training program in keeping him in peak condition after every match, thereby putting him in the right frame of mind for the upcoming fixtures.

Onyekuru explained, “Normally, after a match, you need to relax your body. It depends on how long you played; if you played less, you train as usual. But if you play for more minutes, you must relax because your body is naturally fatigued. That’s why I’m here – to help my body recover and prepare for the week’s training.”

The 20-year-old forward’s transfer to Everton for a fee of £7 million, followed by a loan move to Anderlecht for the current season, has been marked by immediate success. He made a stunning debut for the club, scoring in a pre-season 2-0 win against second-division Belgian side Lierse SK.

Everton, who faced stiff competition from clubs like Arsenal and West Ham United to secure Onyekuru’s signature, opted to loan him out for the season based on the recommendation of their manager, Ronald Koeman.

Onyekuru’s rapid rise at Anderlecht, underscored by his pivotal role in securing the Belgian Super Cup, is evidence of his remarkable impact on the club. His dedication to maintaining peak fitness is indicative of a bright future for the young Super Eagles invitee and a player who is fast becoming a central figure at Anderlecht.
