Ibrahim Alhassan Shifts Focus to Vienna Derby After Europa League Setback

Nigerian midfielder Ibrahim Alhassan remains undeterred following Austria Wien’s UEFA Europa League defeat to Rijeka, asserting that the team is fully concentrated on the upcoming Vienna derby against Rapid Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga. The 3-1 home loss to Rijeka marked Austria Wien’s second defeat in the Europa League group stage, leaving them at the bottom with just a single point. AC Milan leads Group D with seven points, followed by AEK Athens with five points, and Rijeka in third place with three points.
Expressing his sentiments on Twitter, Alhassan, who was an unused substitute in the Europa League match, characterized the game and its outcome as frustrating. However, he extended gratitude to the supporters and conveyed the team’s optimistic outlook for the impending Vienna derby, scheduled for Sunday.
Currently positioned fourth in the Austrian Bundesliga table with 18 points, Austria Wien is poised to regain momentum in domestic competition after their European setback. Alhassan, who joined the club from Akwa United, has netted one goal in four league appearances for Austria Wien this season.
As anticipation builds for the Vienna derby, Alhassan’s commitment to maintaining a positive mindset underscores his determination to contribute to Austria Wien’s success in the league.
