By Dayo Awoniyi
Nigeria international Leon Balogun, has come out swinging against rumours of his impending retirement from international football.
Despite facing an injury-plagued season with Ibrox and losing his regular spot in the Super Eagles lineup, the Rangers defender remains resolute in his determination to continue representing Nigeria.
The veteran centre-back, who has been a mainstay of the Super Eagles defense for several years, has dismissed the retirement rumors as “fake news”, reaffirming his commitment to the Nigerian national team.
“These claims are false. I think I clarified this recently,”  Balogun told Flashscore.com.
“I apologize if I come off as harsh, but the information is out there. Those claims are, how do we say nowadays? Fake news.”
Balogun’s partnership with former Watford star William Troost-Ekong has been a cornerstone of the Super Eagles’ success in recent years, and his experience and leadership will be crucial as the team navigates the challenges of international football.
