Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma recieved Super Falcons trio of Chiamaka Nnadozie, Desire Oparanozie, Osinachi Ohale, and Tochukwu Oluehi to his state house in Owerri.
The Nigeria women’s national team have been receiving deserving warmth reception since their return to the country from Australia, following their exploits at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The Super Falcons exceeded all pre-tournament expectations and gave the significantly more fancied England a tougher game than anyone anticipated, going the distance, all the way to penalty shootouts where they lost 4-2.
However, top government officials have been celebrating members of the World Cup who hails from their governing cabinet. So is the case of the quartet who hails from Imo State.
The visit comes after Rasheedat Ajibade and Rofiat Imuran visited Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke while Asisat Oshoala and Monday Gift were received by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The first lady of the country also received the trio of Onome Ebi, Tochukwu Oluehi, and Christy Ucheibe at the Presidency Villa in Aso Rock.
Addressing the players, the Governor said: “I have consistently maintained that Imo State and indeed, the south east, is blessed with human capital resources.
“Interestingly, our talents have been contributing to national interest and we will continue to encourage all.
“I was impressed receiving Chiamaka Nnadozie @nnadozie_chiamaka, Desire Oparanozie, Osinachi Ohale and Tochukwu Oluehi as they shared their experiences and the joy of wearing our national colours.
“When @desireoparanozie reacted emotionally, on her social media account, over their exit from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023; attributing it to the non conversion of her own penalty kick, I was moved passionately not just for their impressive performance in the competition but, for the zeal to make the nation proud.
“Thankfully, they now wear beautiful smiles even as I presented some tokens to them as an encouragement to do more. – Hope Uzodimma.”
