Jabi All Stars Promote Healthy Living With Annual 14km Walk in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory’s foremost social football club, Jabi All Stars, recently organised its annual health walk and medical check programme in Abuja, drawing members, families and invited clubs in a celebration of fitness and healthy living.
Designed to encourage regular exercise and wellness among the public, the event featured a demanding 14-kilometre trek and jog that began at Jabi Secondary School. Participants moved through some of the capital’s busiest routes including Mabushi Bridge, Banex Junction, Wuse Market, Berger Roundabout and Jabi Park Junction before returning to the starting point.
Chairman of Jabi All Stars, Sir Kenechukwu Offor, expressed delight over the success of the initiative, explaining that the event was deliberately designed to promote healthier lifestyles among members of the club, their families and the wider community.
“This walk is part of our commitment to encouraging a healthy lifestyle. In today’s Nigeria, especially in the FCT, many people are overwhelmed by daily struggles and hardly find time to exercise or carry out routine health checks. Through this initiative, we want to remind people that staying fit is essential to living well.”
Formed about 15 years ago by elite professionals and football enthusiasts, Jabi All Stars added colour and excitement to the 2026 edition by inviting other football clubs within the FCT. Music, dance and on-the-spot health checks also formed part of the programme.
Chairman of Corporate Kickers Football Club, Ahmed Adebayo, one of the invited clubs, praised the organisers for putting together a memorable event.
“This is a fantastic initiative by Jabi All Stars. It brings people together while promoting fitness and good health. It has inspired our club to consider organising a similar programme for our members and the community.”
Leading the walk as the club’s flag bearer was Obinna Nwanaforo, who maintained the pace from the front and encouraged Nigerians to prioritise their health.
“Fitness should not end when people leave their youthful years. Events like this show that exercise can be fun and social. I encourage Nigerians to participate in activities like this to maintain good health.”
Women also took an active part in the trek, with many expressing satisfaction after completing the challenging distance and undergoing medical checks.
Barrister Chinenye Offor emphasised the importance of women maintaining the same level of fitness as men.
“Women have many responsibilities, but we must also make time for our health. Staying fit is important not just for ourselves but for our families as well.”
Another participant, Betty Opara, who joined the walk for the first time in 2026, said the experience was both challenging and rewarding.
“This was my first time participating in the walk and it was tough but enjoyable. I’m proud I completed it and I’m already looking forward to the next edition.”
The event concluded on Sunday with a Thanksgiving service at the Basilica of Grace Anglican Church in Gudu, followed by a gala gathering at one of the renowned hotels in the Abuja city centre, bringing the successful wellness programme to a celebratory close.
