John Obi Mikel likens Victor Osimhen to Didier Drogba

Mikel Obi has likened Victor Osimhen, to his ex-teammate at Stamford Bridge, Didier Drogba.

The ex-Super Eagles captain believes Osimhen has the same aura and arrogance that Drogba possessed during his time at Chelsea.

The Nigerian superstar was phenomenal for Napoli in their journey to win their first Scudetto since 1990 as they were officially crowned Serie A champions.

Osimhen who scored 26 league goals in 31 games, had previously mentioned that he modeled his craft after that of the Ivory Coast legend and believes it’s one of many causes behind his success to this point.

The former Galatasaray man scored 302 goals during his club career, including 164 for Chelsea, where he spent most of his career.

Meanwhile, Mikel is not the first to liken Osimhen to Drogba as former Chelsea winger, Florent Malouda once told DAZN that the 24-year-old reminds him of a younger Didier Drogba.

Speaking on the third episode of his Obi One Podcast which had Osimhen as a guest after John Terry and Frank Lampard, Mikel pointed out the similarities between the two players.

“He [Osimhen] has got the arrogance. He’s got the personality when he comes into the room,” he said.

“His personality is star-struck. You can feel someone walking into the dressing room. That’s what Didier had.”
