John Obi Mikel sees Victor Osimhen as ideal Chelsea striker

Former Nigerian football star, John Mikel Obi believes that Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen is the perfect remedy for Chelsea’s attack.

The former Super Eagles’ captain bore his mind in a podcast interview when he was asked about his former club’s lack of goal scoring and solution to it.

Osimhen has been linked with a move away from Napoli following a controversial video posted on the club’s TikTok account, which led to a strained relationship.

Chelsea are of the clubs listed as possible destination for the 24 year old striker as he’s been touted as the next Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel who spent over decade with the Blues wining over 10 titles, wished Osimhen ignore other suitors and sign for Chelsea.

“I think when I look back at him a few years ago, but now, watching him last season and watching him this season, I would say definitely,” Obi Mikel told media.

“He would come into the Premier League and slot right in. He will get you goals, he will run behind defenders, he will stretch the team.

“I think that’s what probably a lot of the teams now in the Premier League are looking for; a striker who wants to run behind the defenders because then it helps the team.”

While the talk of any possible transfer has not emerge from either Osimhen or Napoli’s camp, he both Premier League giants will continue to be linked with the Nigerian striker as many believed the reigning might reconsider their stance on him by cash in now before he will leave on a free or cheap.
