Joy Omewa extends scoring streak as Fortuna Hjørring edge HB Køge

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s Joy Omewa continued her fine form in front of goal, scoring the winner in Fortuna Hjørring’s 1-0 victory over HB Køge in the Danish Women’s League.

The 22-year-old striker netted her fourth league goal of the season, extending her scoring streak to three consecutive matches and reaffirming her reputation as one of the brightest attacking prospects in Nigerian football.

Omewa has now scored eight goals in just 10 appearances across all competitions this campaign – four in the league and another four in the UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying rounds.

Her consistent performances come on the back of a stellar 2024/25 season in which she fired Fortuna Hjørring to a domestic double.

She finished as the league’s Golden Boot winner with 22 goals and also claimed the Most Valuable Player award, adding four assists in 24 games.

Widely regarded as one of the top strikers in Denmark, Omewa is praised for her blend of creativity, pace, and agility.

She has been described as an “immensely talented striker” – strong, powerful, and a lethal finisher inside the box with either foot or her head, despite being naturally right-footed.

With her current form, Omewa looks set to enjoy another landmark season as Fortuna Hjørring push for domestic and continental success.
