Nigeria forward Joy Omewa was instrumental in Fortuna Hjorring’s 2-0 victory over Nordsjaelland in a Danish women’s top-flight league match on Sunday.
Her goal in the 72nd minute sealed the win, helping Fortuna Hjorring maintain their momentum in the title race.
The match began with Florentina Olar-Sparnu breaking the deadlock in the seventh minute, marking the only goal of the first half.
Omewa, a former Confluence Queens player, displayed her skill and determination, playing the full 90 minutes before being substituted for Pedersen Pernille.
With this performance, Omewa has now scored five goals and provided three assists this season. Fortuna Hjorring currently sits second in the league table with 16 points from six games, just a point ahead of Nordsjaelland.
They will look to continue their strong form in their next match against third-placed Koge at Capelli Sports Stadion on September 28, 2024.
