Kazeem Eletu Queens dominate maiden Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup individual awards

Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens duo of Peace Ikediuba and goalkeeper Zainab Kazeem claimed some of the top honours at the inaugural Ifeanyi Chiejine Memorial Cup 2022 individual awards.
Prince Eletu side emerged as champions with a 2-0 win over Imo Strikers, with individual awards were dolled out as was the Most Valuable Player went to fast-rising forward Achifula Harmony from Owerri.
The youngster was taken by a surprise when she was named for top award following her contributions of three goals in five games to help her Owerri based side to a silver medal.
Harmony started the tournament as the only player to score two goals in match day one as her brace lifted Imo Strikers to a 2-0 triumph against Castmog Academy.
She couldn’t score as her team edged eventual champions, Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens 1-0 in the second Group B game but notched the winner as Imo Strikers pipped Fortress Ladies by same scoreline in the last group game.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens’ Peace Ikediuba won the top goal scorer award with four goals.
Tied on three goals alongside Achifula and Itaigbene Happiness of Delta Queens before the final, Ikediuba opened the scoring for the Lagos-based side in a 2-0 triumph to claim the ultimate title. She is surely a player to look out for in the 2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship alongside Achifula.
Prince Kazeem Eletu Queens goalkeeper, Zainab Kazeem clinched the goalkeeper of the tournament with three clean sheets in five games.
Kazeem, who models her goalkeeping career after Super Falcons shotstopper Chiamaka Nnadozie was solid behind the stick for Jaiyeola Damilare’s team en route winning the title with timely saves and control of her defence line.
Moje Queens of Erin-Ile, Kwara State won the Fair Play award alongside its bronze medal.
