Kebbi BSC clinch third Nigeria Beach Soccer League title

Kebbi Beach Soccer Club (BSC) has emerged as the champions of the 2024 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) following the conclusion of the Super 4 in Kaduna on Saturday.

The top-ranked beach soccer team in Africa secured their third league title in fourth attempt and second in a row despite a 3-2 loss on penalties to hosts Kada BSC.

The thrilling final matchday encounter ended 4-4 after extra time, with Tanko Emmanuel, Sani Hassan, Tale Victor, and James Mamman scoring for Kada Stars. Hassan Abdullahi, Ekene Obi, Hamza Manga, and Emmanuel Ohwoferia netted for Kebbi Fishers during regulation time.

In another match, Kebbi United BSC and Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors played to a 3-3 draw. Anambra BSW triumphed 3-1 in the ensuing penalty shootout.

Kada BSC, the host team, earned the Fair Play award for their sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Overall, Kebbi BSC topped the Super 4 standings with six points, followed by Anambra BSW with four points. Kebbi United BSC finished third with three points, while Kada BSC concluded the Super 4 with one point.

As champions, Kebbi Beach Soccer Club (BSC) secured a giant trophy and cash prize of ₦600,000, with Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors in second place receiving ₦400,000, Kebbi United BSC in third with ₦300,000, and Kada BSC in fourth with ₦200,000.

Individual accolades were also awarded, with Hassan Abdullahi of Kebbi BSC being named the Most Valuable Player of the league.

Anambra BSW’s Basorun Festus was honored as the Goalkeeper of the Season. Kebbi United BSC’s Umar Aliyu won the Rising Star prize, and his teammate Sadiq Umar, who scored 17 goals during the league, was awarded the Highest Goal Scorer prize.
