Kelechi Iheanacho: Nigeria striker pens emotional farewell to Leicester City

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Promise Iheanacho, has sent bid his former club, Leicester City with an emotional farewell message as he begins new adventures with Spanish LaLiga side, Sevilla. 

The Super Eagles’ forward who joined Leicester City in 2017 from Manchester City made a significant impact with the Foxes in his seven years at King’s Power Stadium..

Iheanacho became an instant cult hero not only for his football skills but for his humor and personality among the players and fans. 

The 27-year-old was also instrumental in Leicester City’s FA Cup triumph in 2021, making him the first-ever player in English football to score on every day of the week in a single season.

Iheanacho ended his seven year relationship with the Foxes last June and signed a two year deal with Sevilla with an option to extend it for another year. 

“Thank you for the 7 years we shared, I’ll forever cherish our 2021 FA Cup win,” he said in a post on his social media pages. 

“Thanks to the owners who brought me to the club, all of my teammates in those years and the amazing Foxes fans. All the best for the new season.”

Iheanacho won the FA Community Shield, the FA Cup, and the EFL Championship title with Leicester City scoring 61 goals and provided 34 assists in 232 goals for the Foxes.

The former Manchester City winger expressed his appreciation to Leicester City fans, staff and his teammates for making the club a home for him in the past seven years.
