Kogi United thrash Kogi Feeders team to retain Kogi State FA Cup

Kogi United on Sunday earned a 5-2 win over its Feeders team to retain the 2023 Kogi State FA Cup.
A hat trick from Mustapha Ahmed Eneji propelled the Nigeria National League (NNL) side to a comfortable win over its Feeders team.
Mustapha Ahmed in the ninth minute wasted no time in hitting a powerful volley past Idris Abdullahi in goal for Kogi United Feeders.
The second goal of the game came for Mustapha who was spotted by Abubakar Danlami after beating two markers to move deep into the opponents’ area to slot past Idris for his side’s second goal and his brace of the match.
After the interval, Kogi United Feeders reduced the deficit through Kasim Usman who benefited from a pass and lack of defensive dexterity in Kogi United’s defence to score from close range.
Kogi United responded immediately through Nuhu Daniel who made it 3-1 with brilliant finishing.
Mustapha completed his hat trick to put the game beyond the junior team with a powerful shot from a distance.
Referee Shamsudeen Ekun awarded a penalty to the Feeders team afterward and Bako Dantala stepped up and sent Rabiu Umar the went way.
Kogi United were also awarded a penalty 17 minutes from time after the feeders player handled the ball inside the box and Salisu Tanko converted to put the game beyond the reach of the Feeders team.
Both teams will represent Kogi State in the national finals of the 2023 Federation Cup.
