Lagos FA Cup: Fouad Oki urges clubs to uphold spirit of sportsmanship
By Saheed Afolabi
The chairman of Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Ogboni Fouad Oki has tasked the participating clubs at the 2024 Lagos FA Cup to uphold sportsmanship and discipline.
Ikorodu City and Robo Queens won the previous Lagos FA Cup in grand style and the Lagos FA boss believes the state is where football lives and the competition shouldn’t be seen as a do or die affair.
“Lagos is were football lives and we must see to this that the team that will be representing Lagos will go for glory and bring home the trophy,” Oki told Nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.
“The competition should not be seen as a do or die affair but rather shows the hospitality character of Lagos State.
“The Lagos State Football Association promises to be fair to all teams. We are starting on a clean note and one of the things we have decided to do is not to play our matches at locations that are not secured.
“We also want you to please mobilize your supporters, don’t let us have an FA Cup that there will not be supporters.
“One of the things we are trying to embark on is that we are trying to get sponsors that will be willing to sponsor the clubs and not only the competition and the characters of the teams will be crucial to get sponsors.
“We will invite the Private sectors to come watch the fa Cup and your clubs should be also mobilize supporters to come watch the fa Cup and also maintain orderliness.”
