Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa appointed General Manager of Kano Pillars FC

By Dayo Awoniyi

Nigeria forward Ahmed Musa has been appointed as the new General Manager of Kano Pillars Football Club. The announcement was made by the Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, as part of a broader effort to restructure the club’s management ahead of the 2025/26 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

This appointment follows the expiration of the previous management board’s one-year tenure, during which the team finished in ninth place on the NPFL table. After consultations with football stakeholders across the state, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the reappointment of most members of the former board while making strategic adjustments to enhance performance and professional standards.

In addition to Ahmed Musa’s appointment, the newly approved board includes Ali Muhammad Umar, also known as Nayara, who will serve as Chairman of the club. Other board members include Salisu Mohammed Kosawa, Yusuf Danladi Andy Cole, Idris Malikawa Garu, Nasiru Bello, Muhammad Ibrahim (popularly called Hassan West), Abdulkarim Audi Chara, Muhammad Danjuma Gwarzo, Mustapha Usman Darma, Umar Dankura, Ahmad Musbahu, Gambo Salisu Shuaibu Kura, Rabiu Abdullahi, Aminu Ma’alesh, and Safiyanu Abdu.

The media responsibilities for the club will be handled by Abubakar Isah Dandago Yamalash, who has been named Media Director I, and Ismail Abba Tangalash, who will serve as Media Director II.

Ahmed Musa’s return to Kano Pillars in an executive capacity is expected to bring both visibility and professionalism to the club. Widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished footballers, Musa is expected to use his experience and network to help reposition the club and foster a winning culture.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has expressed confidence in the ability of the new management to elevate the club’s performance and restore Kano Pillars to its traditional status as one of Nigeria’s top football teams. The new management board is expected to be formally inaugurated in the coming days as the team intensifies preparations for the upcoming NPFL season.
