Lakeside Queens crowned 2023 SheFotball Cup champions

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Champions side, Lakeside Queens edged Royaltoms Queens 0-1 to clinch the maiden SheFootball Cup.
Temi Aduramomi’s 23rd minutes goal was enough to lift Lakeside Queens to the title over Royaltoms Queens.
The Ikenne-based side started its campaign at the tournament with a 1-0 win over PS Academy with Ajayi Feyshayo scoring the solitary goal.
In the semi-final, the second-tier NWFL Championship side played out a 1-1 draw with Phoenix Queens before earning a 3-5 win on penalties to make it to the final where it recorded a 0-1 win against third-tier NWFL Nationwide side, Royaltoms Queens.
Eight teams started the competition on Saturday with Ijamido Queens, English Queens, Future Stars, and PS Academy crashing out in the First Round.
Ola Olaronke’s eighth-minute free kick for Royaltoms Queens in the semi-final lifted her team to a 0-1 win over DreamStar FC Ladies.
Lakeside Queens had to rely on a lottery of penalties to defeat Phoenix Queens 3-5 after a 1-1 draw in regulation time.
DreamStar FC Ladies won the bronze medal match 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation time.
SheFootball Cup is the brainchild of the annual SheFootball Conference organised by the Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire Foundation.
The 2023 SheFootball Conference tagged ‘Women’s Football Development Beyond Limits’ took place on Friday with the SheFootball Cup rounding up the program under the auspices of the Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire Foundation.
