Leicester City coach, Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi will be sidelined for a number of weeks after suffering a harmstring.
The manager disclosed this in a pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Bournemouth on Saturday.
Ndidi saw just 45 minutes of action in Leicester’s empathic win against new boys, Nottingham Forest and that also fueled a controversy in some quarters.
Ndidi hugged the headlines and also became subject of discussions on social media following the circumstances surrounding he departure from the Super Eagles camp in the buildup to the Algeria friendly.
A report claimed that Ndidi feigned injury so he would not play in an improvised position, a story which got Ndidi asking questions about the credibility of the story.
However, during his interaction with the media, Rodgers confirmed that Ndidi was actually injured and that was why he returned from the Super Eagles camp to the King Power Centre.
“We’re delighted with Monday night and we’re looking to our next game. In terms of the squad, Wilfred Ndidi will probably be out for a little bit,” Rodgers told media.
:He came back from international duty with a harmstring strain. He recovered well but felt it at half-time in the game and he was a little sore, so he might miss a few weeks.”
Wilfred Ndidi’s absence will be a big loss for the Foxes in their desperate bid to bounce back to from after some disappointing games despite climbing out of the bottom of the PL table for the first time at the weekend.
