Leon Balogun, Cyriel Dessers celebrate Scottish Cup title with Rangers

Nigeria international duo of Leon Balogun and Cyriel Dessers featured for the full 90 minutes as Rangers clinched the Scottish League Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 win against Aberdeen at Hampden Park.
Balogun contributed to Rangers’ solid defensive performance as this marks his third title with the club having previously won the Scottish Premiership in the 2020/21 season and the Scottish Cup in the 2021/22 campaign.
Dessers who sparked to life in recent weeks led the line superbly in Sunday’s Viaplay Cup triumph over Aberdeen.
The 29-year-old thought he was on for a goal at Hampden with a carbon copy of his stunner in Spain when he scored a stunner in last week’s epic Europa League win against Real Betis.
However, his big moment was ruined by the Dons’ goalkeeper, Kelle Roos with an incredible save.
He was thrilled to get his hands on the trophy thanks to goal hero James Tavernier.
The Super Eagles star has managed to hit eight goals this season despite his struggles and has notched in three in his last five games.
The victory was Rangers’ 28th League Cup title, further solidifying their status as a dominant force in Scottish football.
