Manchester United eye Genk striker Tolu Arokodare as alternative to Osimhen

Manchester United have turned their attention to Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare as they seek attacking reinforcements ahead of the new season, sources close to the club have revealed.
The Premier League side had previously pursued Victor Osimhen but have reportedly been priced out of a deal, with the Napoli forward now expected to join Turkish giants Galatasaray S.K., pending official confirmation.
With limited transfer funds and a strategic shift toward cost-effective options, United manager Rúben Amorim has identified Arokodare as a viable alternative.
The Genk forward enjoyed a breakout season in the Belgian Pro League, finishing as the club’s top scorer and earning the 2024 Ebony Shoe—an annual award for the league’s best player of African descent.
Genk’s recent signing of Cameroonian striker Aaron Bibout has further fueled speculation that the Belgian side may be preparing for Arokodare’s departure.
Although currently valued at around €18 million, Arokodare has two years remaining on his contract, and Genk are expected to demand closer to €25 million amid rising interest across Europe.
While the 23-year-old may not carry the same marquee status as RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško or Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins, United view Arokodare as a compelling and more affordable option in their ongoing striker search.
The Super Eagles forward has impressed with his pace, aerial strength, and composure in front of goal, qualities that could suit United’s evolving tactical setup under Amorim.
