Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has ‘no interest’ in talking to new boss Erik ten Hag

Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard, who is out of contract this summer, has ‘no interest’ in talking to new incoming boss Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, with him instead wanting to explore his options when his current deal runs out in June.

The Englishman was snubbed when Ralf Rangnick introduced other out of contract players for a final farewell during the club’s 3-0 win over Brentford in their final home game of the season.

It led to Lingard’s brother taking an ugly swipe at the Red Devils on Instagram after the game, writing:

‘Twenty years of blood, sweat and tears, four domestic trophies, three cup final goals. Not even a farewell’,

“No wonder it’s Conference League next year. Attacking players for celebrations when the clubs being sold to the Super League OK. Class of 92, Busby Babes. You’re run by people who don’t even know the offside trap.

“Classless and the fans need to realise. Goodnight, god bless. Tarar.

“Been there since nine years of age and didn’t even get a send off.

“Well done bro, your family are proud.”

Meanwhile, Lingard stayed silent on the situation, but took to social media simply to post a picture of him in the United youth team, perhaps hinting at his feelings.

Lingard on his way out

And, as per BBC Sport, ‘Lingard feels he needs to resurrect his 32-cap England career, having featured in World Cup qualifiers in September and October 2021.’

This means that, despite a change of management incoming, Lingard is unlikely to want anything to do with it, with the same report claiming that ‘Lingard has no interest in talking to the Dutchman [Ten Hag]’.

The 29 year old was keen to leave the club in both of the past transfer windows, but his loan moves in both cases were denied by the club as a result of external circumstances.

Now, he will be able to force through his wish.
