MLS: Emmanuel Iwe qualities gladdens Minnesota United coach
By Saheed Afolabi
Major League Soccer (MLS) side, Minnesota United head coach, Adrian Heath is glad with the qualities of Nigerian, Emmanuel Iwe.
Iwe had put pen to paper for a year deal, with the option of an extension for another 12-month for the Loons after passing his trials with the club.
The 22-year-old midfielder impressed the Minnesota United manager, Heath with his incredible pace and other qualities which was rewarded with a contract with the club.
Heath believes Iwe will be given numerous opportunities to prove himself at the club starting with the preseason engagements.
“The first time that we saw [Emmanuel] Iwe, the first thing that stood out was his pace – he’s incredibly athletic, he’s really quick,” Heath told the club webste.
“He’s got a good left foot, he puts some decent crosses in and he looked like he had an eye for a goal. So then, we give him the opportunity.
“He comes in and starts to train with us, did preseason with us and did well. I think we always recognized that there was a lot of potential there and I think he started to realize some of that potential.”
Minnesota United are placed in the 11th position of the MLS Western Conference Center with 24 points from 19 matches and their recent win was a 4-1 thrashing of Portland Trailblazers on July second 2023.
