Morocco will once again take centre stage in global women’s football as it prepares to host Round 2 of the inaugural FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™ on Sunday, 14 December, at the Stade Municipal de Berrechid.
AFC Women’s Champions League winners Wuhan Chegu Jiangda WFC advanced to the next stage after defeating OFC champions Auckland United 1–0 in the opening match on 8 October. The Chinese side will now face the winners of the CAF Women’s Champions League, currently underway in Egypt and scheduled to conclude on 21 November. The clash will determine which continental champion progresses to the final stage of the new global competition.
The tournament’s launch drew significant attention, with more than 32,000 spectators packing the Wuhan Sports Centre Stadium last month—setting a new attendance record for women’s club football in China PR.
Morocco, fresh off hosting the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup™, continues to strengthen its profile as a key hub for international football.
The Stade Municipal de Berrechid, located roughly 20 miles south of Casablanca, has recent experience hosting FIFA events, including the FIFA Unites: Women’s Series™.
The upcoming fixture will decide which team advances to the final phase of the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup™, set to be held in London from 28 January to 1 February 2026, as the global women’s club football structure enters an ambitious new era.
