The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has sanctioned Gombe United FC, Jigawa Golden Stars FC and match referee Terwase Chia following incidents that occurred during their recent fixture.
According to the committee’s findings, Gombe United FC was found guilty of encroachment and has been fined the sum of N1,000,000.
Centre referee Terwase Chia has also been suspended for the remainder of the season for professional misconduct deemed to have brought the game into disrepute.
Jigawa Golden Stars FC were sanctioned with a fine of N500,000 for refusing to continue with the match.
Despite the controversy surrounding the encounter, the committee ruled that the game would be considered concluded, with the result standing at 0-0 between both teams.
The NFF also noted that the decisions taken by the Disciplinary Committee are without prejudice to the right of appeal by the parties involved.
