NFF Disciplinary Committee Sanctions Remo Stars FC Over Crowd Violence

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has handed down a series of sanctions against Remo Stars FC following crowd disturbances during their match against Ikorodu City FC.
After reviewing the incident, the Committee found that Remo Stars FC failed to provide adequate and effective security, leading to an attack by home supporters on Ikorodu City fans after the match. The violence involved the use of dangerous weapons, resulting in injuries to away supporters and damage to the visiting team’s bus.
The Committee also established that Remo Stars supporters threw objects onto the field of play, forcing the match to be stopped twice, and engaged in conduct capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Decisions and Sanctions
Based on its findings, the Committee ruled as follows:
A ₦2,000,000 fine was upheld against Remo Stars FC for failure to provide adequate and effective security.
A ₦1,000,000 fine was upheld for the throwing of objects into the field of play.
Sanctions numbered 3 and 4 in the Summary Jurisdiction (Form 16) were set aside, having been sufficiently addressed by sanctions 1 and 2.
A further ₦2,000,000 fine was upheld as compensatory cost for injuries sustained by away supporters and damage to Ikorodu City FC’s team bus.
The order for Remo Stars FC to play all remaining home matches of the 2025/2026 season at the Lekan Salami Stadium was reduced to a five-match home ban, to run concurrently from the date of the sanction.
Sanction No. 7 in the Summary Jurisdiction (Form 16) was adopted and upheld in its entirety.
The Committee also noted that all decisions are without prejudice to the club’s right of appeal.
