Nigeria international and former Nasarawa United striker, Silas Nwankwo is injured and will be out of action for a very long duration.
His Swedish club, Mjallby AIF, on Sunday confirmed that the Nigeria international will be out of action following the injury.
The 18-year forward joined the Swedish side earlier this year after a successful outing with the Nigeria Professional Football League side Nasarawa United.
Since moving to the Scandinavian country, Nwankwo has been outstanding for the club and has scored 9 goals in 28 matches.
The club confirmed that Nwankwo has torn his anterior cruciate ligament against Djurgaden and further said he will undergo surgery next week.
“Silas has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear that will require surgery,” rehab manager Amanda Nilsson told the club media
“Surgery will take place next week and then a 9-12 month rehabilitation awaits before a full return to football is possible.”
In 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League, Silas scored two goals in 11 appearances for Sunshine Stars and scored twenty goals in following two seasons for Nasarawa United.
