Nigeria Premier Football League get new kickoff date

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is now scheduled to kickoff on September 6 due to administrative reasons.
The 2023/2024 NPFL season was originally scheduled to start on August 26 after a meeting with the Club Owners Association but it has now been shifted to September.
The NPFL, however communicated the new development to the Club Owners and cited some considerations that warranted the postponement of the league.
Part of the considerations for the postponement of the league was to allow clubs that are playing in the continental tournaments to prepare well for the task at hand as well mastering of the imported AI cameras.
NPL champions, Enyimba, the Federation Cup champions, Bendel Insurance, Rivers United and and Remo Stars will represent Nigeria at the CAF continental tournaments.
The Nigeria Premier League was established 51 years ago and the People’s Elephant have won it a record nine times and the recent one coming in June 2023 in Lagos.
