Nigeria star Halimatu Ayinde gives injury update ahead of Ireland showdown

Nigeria midfielder Halimatu Ayinde is eagerly anticipating her back-to-back action despite suffering an injury in a 3-2 victory over Australia in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup second group B match last Thursday.
The Nigeria international, who had missed Canada clash due to a two-match suspension made an impactful return as she starred in the middle of the park until injury saw her replaced by Jennifer Echegini in the 76th minute.
However, Randy Waldrum’s side gained a huge boost after Ayinde shaked up the injury and could potentially make her second appearance in the competition on Monday when the Super Falcons face off against the Irish.
When asked about her avaliability, the Rosengard midfielder offered a positive update amidst concerns.
“Hopefully, I’m available to play, but it also depends on how fast I recover, though it doesn’t seem that bad,” she exclusively told NigeriaFootball.
The 28-year-old, has continued her impressive form allotting eight Women’s World Cup appearances in her third outing after previous two adventures at the Canada 2015 and France 2019 respectively.
Ayinde will hope her avaliability for the African side could be a defining period for the Super Falcons as they eye a spot in the Round of 16 against the European newcomers at Lang Park in Brisbane.
