By Wale Mustapha
Nigerian striker, Terem Moffi was on score sheet for Nice in a 1-1 draw at Angers SCO in their French Ligue One on Sunday.
The Super Eagles forward took his season’s goal tally to 15 with the fourth minute goal in the encounter.
After a brilliant start by struggling Angers, Nice took the shock lead when Gaëtan Laborde squared a pass for Lorient loanee, Terem Moffi to tap home.
Angers pushed for the equaliser and profited from a mistake at the back from Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo saw Ibrahima Niane react quickest to level in the 15th minute.
The goal seemed to have given Angers’ huge confidence as they forced their visitors deep to their half with Kasper Schmeichel the most busiest with series of saves to the scoreline even at half time.
In the second half, It all about Angers as they went close to take the lead when their captain Nabil Bentaleb drew a smart save from Schmeichel again.
However, Nice made a late surge to secure the maximum points but Angers stood firm in defense to avoid letting in additional goal which has characterized their season.
It was the visitor’s fourth Ligue 1 draw on the bounce, while Angers moved to 11 games without a win at home.
Angers are still 15 points adrift from fifth bottom place in the table while the point saw Nice move further away from the top five, a huge blow to their European football aspirations.
