Nigeria’s Oluwayemisi Samuel joins TP Mazembe ahead of CAF Women’s Champions League

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward Oluwayemisi Samuel has completed a move to TP Mazembe ahead of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The attacker joins the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) giants from Egyptian side Modern SC, strengthening Mazembe’s squad as they prepare to defend their continental crown.

Samuel first rose to prominence in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership with Sunshine Queens, before moving to Osun Babes and later Edo Queens, where her performances earned her a move abroad.

At Modern SC in Egypt, she continued her development before sealing the switch to Mazembe, Africa’s reigning champions.

With TP Mazembe automatically qualified as title holders, Samuel is set to make her debut on the continental stage.

She will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of fellow Nigerian Glory Edet, who became the first Nigerian to win the CAF Women’s Champions League with Mazembe in 2024.

Samuel now has the chance to become the second Nigerian player to lift the prestigious trophy, as Mazembe aim to defend their crown.
