No Frank Onyeka as Michael Olakigbe & Val Adedokun’s Brentford bow to Celta Vigo

By Olu Dare

Brentford suffered a 3-1 defeat to Celta Vigo on Tuesday, with Nigeria international Frank Onyeka missing in action while his compatriots Val Adedokun and Michael Olakigbe featured for the Bees.

Manager Thomas Frank started with a 3-4-3 at Jersey Road, which saw Keane Lewis-Potter feature at wing-back.

The back three were Zanka, Ethan Pinnock and Ben Mee, with Mads Roerselv on the right.

The Premier League side took the lead after just 27 seconds, as Sergi Canos played in Yoane Wissa, who tucked the ball home from close range.

Nevertheless, Celta captain Iago Aspas inspired the Spanish side’s comeback, as he found the net from the edge of the box to equalise in the first half.

Jorgen Strand Larsen tapped home from inside the six-yard box to put the visitors ahead after half-time, before Aspas completed the scoring with a looping effort from 40 yards, making it 3-1 in west London.

The Bees thought they had pulled one back on the hour mark when they had the ball in the net. Wissa poked home from close range after he challenged Marche, who dropped the ball, but the linesman already had his flag up to deny the striker.

Frank’s mem had one more chance to reduce the deficit when the Bees won a free-kick on the edge of the box, but Toney’s effort was saved well by the keeper.
