Katsina United head coach Abdulazeez Audu has expressed disappointment after his side were held to a 1–1 draw by Barau FC in their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 12 fixture at the Mohammed Dikko Stadium on Saturday.
The Chanji Boys took the lead in the first half through Uche Collins, who finished off a well-worked team move. However, the visitors drew level midway through the second half courtesy of Kalu Uche’s strike.
Despite sustained pressure from the hosts, Katsina United failed to restore their advantage before the match was interrupted due to off-field incidents.
Reacting to the result, Audu admitted that his team’s mistakes proved costly but vowed to improve in the coming fixtures.
“This is a game we expected to take maximum points, but we couldn’t because of some mistakes we couldn’t control,” Audu told reporters after the match.
“We will go back and correct our errors. We just came from a good result on the road, but we’ll take this as it comes. We had our chances, but we didn’t take them.”
The draw leaves Katsina United with work to do as they aim to maintain their push up the NPFL standings.
