NPFL: Akinade Onigbinde reveals how Doma United thrash Katsina United in Gombe
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Doma United, Akinade Onigbinde has attributed his side’s 2-0 win over Katsina United to taking their chances in the Nigeria Premier Football League encounter on Saturday.
The Savannah Tigers who have been having a blistering season started the new year with a home duel against a stabilizing Katsina side where a win would send them back to the summit of the league log.
Two early first half goals from Bidemi Owoku (two minutes) and Samuel Enefiok (eight minutes) were enough for the Gombe State based club to win the match.
And Onigbinde is excited to see his boys break their one-goal scoring jinx in their last three games.
“I give kudos to the boys for this win, it’s a good way to start the year and we have hope to maintain this performance,” the manager told media.
“We were able to score more today and it’s down to team work and taking our chances when it matter most.
“I spoke to the boys before the match that it’s better to score your goals early to relax to enjoy the game, we’ve scored two or goals before but such things happen.
“I’m positive we will do much better in the second and we are not too desperate to win the league, for me, anywhere between first, second or third will okay for me.”
Doma United are leading log with 31 points from 16 matches and will be taking on Abia Warriors in their next fixtures.
