NPFL: Ashifat Suleiman attributes Kwara United’s loss to Kano Pillars to costly errors

By Wale Mustapha

Acting Technical Adviser of Kwara United, Ashifat Suleiman, has blamed his team’s narrow defeat to Kano Pillars on individual errors, following a 1–0 loss in their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Six clash at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano on Wednesday.

Veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali netted the only goal of the match in the first half, handing the home side all three points in a tightly contested encounter.

Speaking to Kwara United’s media team, Suleiman described the result as disappointing but stressed the need for his side to quickly refocus and recover.

“We started well and were in the game until some costly mistakes from our players, which are part of football,” he said.

“Our objective was to get maximum points, but things didn’t work out in our favour. The league is a marathon, and we’ll bounce back stronger.”

The defeat sees Kwara United drop to 13th place on the NPFL table, with eight points from seven matches.

The Harmony Boys will aim to return to winning ways when they face Wikki Tourists at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi this weekend.
