Technical Adviser of Kun Khalifat FC, Emmanuel Osuigwe, has described his side’s first-ever victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) as a positive step in their adaptation to top-flight football.
The newly promoted side secured a convincing 3-1 win over Elkanemi Warriors in their Matchday Four encounter at the Enyimba Stadium, Aba, last Sunday — their maiden triumph since gaining promotion.
An elated but measured Osuigwe said the victory was both a sign of progress and a reminder of the challenges ahead for his young squad.
“It’s a new team that is just coming up in the NPFL. There must be mistakes, we are still learning and making mistakes,” Osuigwe admitted.
“The more we progress in the league, the more those mistakes will be corrected, and we will get much better.”
Kun Khalifat, who are making their debut in Nigeria’s elite division, have so far garnered four points from their opening four fixtures — an encouraging start for a side still adjusting to the demands of the NPFL.
Up next for the Osun-based club is a tricky away clash against Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) in Ibadan, where they will be aiming to build momentum and prove their resilience against one of the league’s traditional heavyweights.
