NPFL: Gbenga Ogunbote provides secret of Shooting Stars’ brilliant home run

By Wale Mustapha
Head Coach of Shooting Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote has attributed his side’s impressive dominance at home in the 2023/2024 Nigeria Premier Football League, (NPFL) to resolve and quest to improve.
The Oluyole Warriors extended their 100 percent home runs with a commanding 4-1 win over Niger Tornadoes in the Matchday Seven of the new campaign on Sunday.
Goals from Ayobami Adekunle, Ayodeji Bamidele, Adelowo Gbolagade and Kareem Ademola for Shooting Stars rendered Chidiebere Ernest’s goal a mere consolation.
The Ibadan warlords have scored more goals (11) than any other side in the league this season and sit joint top on the log with same points (13) as Enugu Rangers and Ogunbote has commended the players for the brilliant performance which he attributed to commitment and determination to get better.
“It was a good win for us and also good response (to midweek defeat at Remo), we worked very hard for this and I give kudos to everybody to make it happen,” the former Remo Stars manager told media.
“We actually put in a lot of work to see that we get better in our build ups and passes, its good thing to see players showing that they are reading to play and give it all.
“We are still not at that level we want but you will notice that we’ve taken a step up from where we were.”
Shooting will be taking on Kwara United in the Matchday Eight next Sunday in Ilorin.
