By Wale Mustapha

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has praised Enyimba International FC for their resilience and fighting spirit after the club staged a dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over Bendel Insurance in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday Five clash in Aba on Sunday.

Enyimba, who twice trailed in the five-goal thriller, sealed the win with second-half strikes from Abiodun Joseph, Kalu Nweke, and Chidera Michael, sending the People’s Elephant to the top of the NPFL table with 11 points from five matches.

Governor Otti, who watched the game at the Enyimba International Stadium as a special guest, described the victory as a testament to the team’s “can-do” spirit and lauded both the players and their supporters.

“In a match that tested resilience and character, Enyimba came from behind twice to secure a well-deserved victory, claiming all three points and rising to the top of the NPFL table,” Otti wrote on his X account.

“I extend my heartfelt appreciation to our teeming fans who turned out in large numbers to support our team. Your energy electrified the stadium in a good way. With your unwavering support, Enyimba truly lived up to its name as the People’s Elephant.”

The governor also commended Bendel Insurance for their sportsmanship, while expressing gratitude to the Enyimba board and chairman, Kanu Nwankwo, for their leadership.

“Today, Enyimba FC showcased the true can-do spirit of our people. On and off the pitch, we continue to prove that with unity and belief, greatness is always within reach,” Otti added.

Enyimba will next face Ikorodu United in Lagos on Sunday as they look to consolidate their place at the top of the table.
