By Saheed Afolabi
Kwara United defender, Abiodun Adebayo has revealed that the morale of the players of the Ilorin based club after getting their first away win of the current Nigeria Premier Football League season.
The Afonja Warriors came from a goal down to defeat El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in Maiduguri with goals from Jide Fatokun and Godwin Oshagbemi canceling out Nnaji David’s strike to claim an important away win of the season.
The arrival of Kabiru Dogo as the new head of the technical crew of the club has brought a fresh atmosphere within the camp of Kwara United following their disappointing start to the season.
And the defender believes they are capable of finishing in the top three position at the end of the current campaign.
“The win is a very important one for us because we’ve not been having good results both home and away since the beginning of the season,” Adebayo told NigeriaFootball.com.
“So going into the second round with an away win will boost the morale and confidence of the team in the second round. (Finishing in the top 3) is still very achievable because I think the winning mentality is back in the team now and we still have our double home matches also in the second round so all hope is not lost on that front.”
The Harmony Boys are eighth on the log of the NPFL abridged group A with nine points from nine matches and they are two points above the relegation waters.
Kwara United will play host to El Kanemi Warriors when the league resumes back on the 26th of March 2023.
