Remo Stars and Niger Tornadoes settled for a 1-1 draw on Wednesday in one of the tune up games for the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL season.
It was a match that was filled with grits, hard tackles, nervy moments but full entertainment and also provided both sides how they will fare and where necessary tweaks are needed in the team heading to new season.
Andy Okpe shot the host ahead from the spot after Adebayo Waheed was adjudged to have tripped Remo player in the box.
The Ikon Allah Boys were reduced to 10 men after Frank Kappe got sent off from second bookings but Remo Stars failed to make good use of the numerical strength.
Young defender, Charles Okafor stood out in defense for Tornadoes to ward off subsequent first half threats from Stars.
The resumption saw Tornadoes changing tactics and allowed for more fluidity in their midfield. They Minna based side also make some tactical changes that further brought them to the game.
Two of the substitutes, Oladoye Bukola and Peter Momoh were handful for Remo’s defense and their moves and passes resulted earned them their spot kicks as Hamza Muhammad was hacked down in the box as he aim to shoot from Momoh’s pass.
Momoh would then stepped up and bury the effort past Edafe in goal for Remo Stars. The result would prove more of a positives for Tornadoes who have suffered back to back defeats in their last two tune up games to Shooting Stars and FC Ebedei.
