NPFL: Stanley Eguma not getting carried away by Rivers United comeback over Akwa United
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma insists his side have less time to celebrate their 2-1 comeback win over Akwa United on Tuesday as he is shifting focus on another tough clash with Doma United.
The Port Harcourt based side scored a goal in each half from Sadiq Abubakar to record the comeback victory after an early upset by the Promise Keepers on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
An excited Eguma insists the Pride of Rivers must fight harder for every match points, continuing with their visit to Gombe for Doma United on Sunday before engaging Enugu Rangers in Enugu on Wednesday.
“I must agree that we did very well with the win and it’s very important for us this, kudos to the boys for that,” Eguma told media.
“We expect to win almost every game because the league has gotten to a stage whereby every point counts and we don’t have to rely on home games.
“In the past, we’ve lost some points at home and we expect to get those points on the road.
“The players must show the right mentality to help us show that, these matches ( Doma United and Rangers) are matches we must get points.
“We are not going there to participate but with a mindset that the points are very important and see how we can grab some of the points.”
