NPFL to bring back Friday football

With the total return of matches on tv screens and broadcast streaming platforms, the Nigeria Premier Soccer League (NPFL) has turned consideration to introducing Friday night time matches.

In a memo to the NPFL golf equipment, Davidson Owumi, the Chief Working Officer, knowledgeable the golf equipment’ chairmen and chief executives that the night time fixtures could be launched pursuant to cited sections of the NPFL Framework and Guidelines.

“Pursuant to Part B, Article 4.1 and 13.4 of the Framework and Guidelines of the Nigeria Premier Soccer League 2023/24 season and at the side of the CAF Membership Licensing process, the NPFL needs to schedule a few of its fixtures for Friday night time matches,” the memo learn.

NPFL matches started streaming via the Propel Sports activities Africa NPFL-Dwell on the Over The Prime (OTT) platforms initially of the season whereas StarTimes started Direct To Dwelling (DTH) broadcasts on November 18.

The golf equipment had been consequently directed to make sure that all amenities, particularly the electrical flood lighting are purposeful.

The NPFL mentioned it might be in communication with chosen golf equipment to establish the readiness of their amenities.

“The Nigeria Premier Soccer League can be in communication with golf equipment which have been chosen for the Friday night time matches to ensure that all logistics are in place for a profitable fixture schedule,” the memo concluded.

Owumi instructed NPFL Media that the introduction of Friday night time matches is to develop the league worth chain by making a platform to stimulate native companies in areas the place matches will maintain.
