NPFL: Tunde Sanni hails Kwara United’s response after victory over Kun Khalifat

By Wale Mustapha

Kwara United head coach Tunde Sanni has praised his side’s display following their first win of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season, describing the result as an important test of the team’s quality.

The Harmony Boys eased to a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Kun Khalifat in Ilorin on Sunday, with goals from Aule Shirsha Johnmark and Kingsley Obiora sealing the three points.

Sanni, visibly delighted with his team’s performance, said the result provides valuable momentum as they prepare for their upcoming CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round clash against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko.

“We are really happy with how the boys responded and went about the game. It’s a good test ahead of our CAF game in two weeks’ time in Ghana,” Sanni told reporters after the match.

“We may need to work on a few grey areas and improve on the positives, but this win gives us confidence for our next NPFL fixture and for the continental stage.”

The victory lifted Kwara United to 10th place on the NPFL log after three matches. They next face Warri Wolves in a Matchday 4 encounter on Sunday.
