NWFL: Blackson hails Rivers Angels’ players after derby win at Delta Queens

By Wale Mustapha

Rivers Angels’ Technical Adviser, Tosan Blackson, has praised his players for their outstanding performance in the 2-1 victory over Delta Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) on Wednesday.

The Jewels of Rivers triumphed in a thrilling South-South derby at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba, claiming a hard-fought win.

Blackson, who had expressed confidence in his team’s ability before the match, recounted the quality displayed by his squad and predicted even more success this season.

“I told you before the match that Delta Queens couldn’t withstand us, and it played out that way,” Blackson told media.

“It’s a team we know very well and understand how they would operate, and I’m happy with how my players handled the game, especially when under pressure. It showed the character we have as a team and proved we are a team with more prospects.”

With the win, Rivers Angels now sit in second place on the table, with 10 points from four matches.

They will face Bayelsa Queens in a Matchday Five fixture at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
