Unification Ladies’ captain, Ifeoluwa Olufemi, has expressed how the team’s impressive run in the 2024 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship has inspired her and contributed significantly to her growth as a player.

Olufemi, who primarily serves as the team’s goalkeeper but is also adept at playing multiple positions, praised her club’s debut season in the Championship.

Despite the competitive nature of the league, the Lagos-based side managed to secure seven points from four matches, demonstrating their strength and adaptability.

Olufemi reflected on the valuable experience gained throughout the Championship, acknowledging the significant difference between the NWFL Championship and grassroots football, emphasizing the heightened level of competition and the importance of consistency.

“The NWFL Championship has been a fantastic experience for me. I’ve learned so much, and it has had a positive impact on my career,” Olufemi stated in an exclusive interview with nigeriafootball.ng.

“The competition here is at a higher level compared to grassroots football. There are ups and downs, but the competitiveness is truly remarkable.”

She further highlighted the importance of maintaining consistency to achieve success.

“One key lesson we’ve learned is that consistency is crucial. Regardless of the challenges, staying consistent in our efforts is essential for success.”

Unification Ladies finished their campaign in Group B1 with a commendable record of two wins, one draw, and one loss, securing the second position behind Ibom Angels. This strong performance in their debut season has set a promising foundation for future success.
