NWFL Premiership MD 9 Wrap: Nasarawa decimate Ratels as Dannaz edge Confluence in 6-goal thriller

Delta Queens, Bayelsa Queens, Adamawa Queens, Rivers Angels, Nasarawa Amazons, Dannaz Ladies, and FC Robo Queens recorded victories during the mid-week fixtures of the 2023/2024 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership on Wednesday.

In Lafia, Nasarawa Amazons were the biggest winners of the round with a 5-0 thrashing of Naija Ratels FC maintaining their dominance over North Central neighbours in the Matchday Nine encounter.

A brace from U-20 national team player, Ojiyovwi Kesiena and a goal each by last FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup bronze-winning player, Mosaku Bisola, Yina Adoo, and Shobowale Olushola sealed a big win for the Solid Miners.

In Lagos, Dannaz Ladies beat Confluence Queens 4-2 at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Zainab Raji, Fatimoh Solaty, Olawunmi Akintola, and Farike Moses scored for the Lagos-based side while Daniella Fagbenro and Mary Mahmud reduced the deficit for the visitors.

Oladipo Shukurat’s 60th-minute strike separated FC Robo Queens from Edo Queens in the first match played at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Holders, Delta Queens pipped Ekiti Queens 2-1 in Asaba thanks to goals from Olabiyi Folajomi and Maureen Okpala before Okotete Rachael pulled a goal back for the travelers.

In Yenegoa, two first-half strikes from Divine Onwuchekwa and Rose Ekong lifted the Bayelsa Queens to a 2-0 triumph against Sunshine Queens.

Adamawa Queens in Gombe had to come from a goal down before securing a 2-1 victory over Abia Angels after Rose Adeshina had given the Aba-based side the lead at the half-hour mark.

Blessing Sule and Florence Onyinyechi’s penalty completed the comeback for the Northern side.

In Port Harcourt, two goals in either half by Blessing Okpe and Adugbe Olamide were enough to seal a 2-0 victory for Rivers Angels’ over Remo Stars Ladies.

The only match that ended in stalemate saw Royal Queens and Heartland Queens settling for a 0-0 draw in Sapele.
