Odemwingie’s Scoring Drought Persists as Madura United Share Points with Persija Jakarta

Nigerian striker, Osaze Odemwingie, faced another goalless outing for Madura United, as the team settled for a 1-1 draw at home against Persija Jakarta in the Indonesian top-flight league on Monday. The match saw Nigerian-born Indonesian international, Gregory Nwokolo, put Madura United in the lead with a goal in the 64th minute. However, Persija Jakarta responded swiftly, with William Pacheco equalizing just five minutes later, ensuring both teams left with a point.

The draw elevated Madura United to third place in the 18-team Indonesian league table, now boasting 36 points.

Odemwingie’s goal drought continues, stretching to four consecutive matches for Madura United, with his last successful strike dating back to a 1-0 home victory in July. The former West Bromwich Albion, Cardiff, and Spartak Moscow player has tallied 13 goals in 19 league appearances, placing him second on the top scorers chart. He trails behind Bali United’s Sylvano Comvalius, who leads with 14 goals.

Despite Odemwingie’s recent challenges in finding the back of the net, his contributions to Madura United’s campaign remain invaluable. As the season progresses, fans will be eager to see if the experienced striker can regain his scoring form and further bolster his team’s position in the league standings.
