OFFICIAL: Faith Michael signs Pitea IF extension, set for 18th season in Sweden

Nigeria defender, Faith Michael has extended her contract with Swedish women’s top-flight side, Pitea.

The player who joined the Swedish team in 2011 has extended her stay with the team for another year.

Next season will be her 18th in the Swedish Dammalsvenskan since making her debut for QBIK in 2006.

Having played 17 seasons with Pitea, Michael is looking forward to her 18th season with the club.

“We are incredibly excited that Faith has chosen to sign for another year with the association,” Pitea posted on their Instagram page

The experienced defender had played 350 games in the Dammalsvenskan and was voted the best defender in the league in 2015.

The 36-year-old played for Novia Queens FC and Bayelsa Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League Premiership before moving abroad to join Klepp IL.

At the international level, she has represented Nigeria since her national team debut in 2004.

She is part of the Super Falcons side that won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in 2004, 2006, 2016 and 2018, plus twice featuring at the Summer Olympic women’s football tournament in 2004 and 2008.
