OFFICIAL: Ndifreke Effiong rejoins former NPFL champions Akwa United

Nigerian striker Ndifreke Effiong returns to Akwa United after terminating his contract with Libyan side Ahli Benghazi.
Effiong joined Ahli Benghazi in 2021 but has returned to the team he enjoyed a good scoring form between 2019 and 2021.
Ndifreke Effiong joined the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Champions, Akwa United from Abia Warriors in 2018.
The forward started his career at Abia Comet before moving to Abia Warriors.
He spent three seasons with the Promise Keepers from 2019 to 2021 where he scored 26 league goals in 62 games.
The former Abia Warriors player was part of the Akwa United team that won the 2020/2021 league title.
He has represented Nigeria at the 2015 African Games, 2015 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations, and the 2016 Summer Olympics and made his debut for the Nigeria national football team on 26 March 2019 in a friendly against Egypt, as a 90th-minute substitute for Shehu Abdullahi.
He has represented Nigeria at U-23 levels twice as Nigeria won the 2015 African Cup of Nations and claimed the bronze medal at Rio 2016 Olympics.
At the 2019 U-23 African Cup of Nations, Ndifreke Effiong was also part of the Nigerian side that crashed out at the group stage and failed to qualify for Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
